Rick Lafleur
is a banjoist, songwriter, and singer from Callander, Ontario Canada and now makes his home in Durham, North Carolina.
Rick’s recording debut began in 2005 with the release of Moma’s Voice a joint collaboration with Alice Zincone featuring their original songs, harmony singing, and Rick’s explosive banjo playing. Dave Higgs of Nashville Public Radio had this to say about the recording: “You all have chosen and/or written some truly memorable tunes which you've creatively arranged and beautifully performed… and Rick just plays the heck out of the banjo.” Jim Mills former banjoist with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder said: “Rick’s tasteful banjo playing throughout the recording is wonderful!”
Opportunity struck in 2009 when Rhonda Vincent, Alice, and Rick came together in a collaborative effort that resulted in the song “Last Time Loving You.” The song was released on Vincent’s Grammy nominated album titled Destination Life and reached number seven on the Bluegrass Unlimited National Bluegrass Survey Chart.
Rick joined the Grass Cats in 2010 and has been a co-writer with Russell on three recorded songs including the title cut of the CD The Mountains my Baby and Me, a number one single for three consecutive months on the Bluegrass Unlimited National Bluegrass Survey Chart. No Depression magazine in a review of the CD by Prescription Bluegrass Media described Rick’s performance on the recording: “Rick Lafleur, on banjo, is all over this recording….. in a very good way…. Finesse IS a big part of Rick’s palette. He adds an entire color wheel of nuances to each song, and he seems to have a knack for just the right notes, at just the right time. He has a way of vamping on the backbeat of a rhythm that adds all sorts of interesting hues to the tempo. His timing on his solos is impeccable, and originality seems to be his goal.” Rick has been a guest performer on numerous recordings and continues to have a busy performance schedule.
Stephen Fraleigh
is a fiddler with the Stationeers and plays other instruments as well. He is a 2-time winner of the annual Galax Fiddler's Convention. His note seperation, taste, harmony singing and ability to play fast make him a great member of the Stationeers.
Steven Martin
is a guitarist and has been playing Bluegrass since the age of 12 years old. He credits his grandfather's love of the music and dedication to the reason he loves to play Bluegrass. He spent 6 years with The Churchmen.
